40.15% of young men smoke 7-12 cigarettes a day.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that 25.7% of Indonesian youth smoke. The percentage of male youth smokers is significantly higher than that of female youth smokers: 50% compared to 0.63%.

The BPS also reports that 40.15% of youth smokers consume 7 to 12 cigarettes per day. Furthermore, 24.69% of youth smokers consume 13 to 24 cigarettes per day.

A total of 20.73% of youth consume 4 to 6 cigarettes per day, and 11.6% smoke 1 to 3 cigarettes per day. Only 2.63% of youth smoke more than 25 cigarettes per day.

According to Law Number 40 of 2009, youth are Indonesian citizens aged 16 to 30 years. This age group represents a crucial period of growth and development, and their health must be protected to ensure their future productivity.

The high number of youth smokers presents a significant challenge, as smoking has negative impacts on its users. One such impact is the increased risk of cancer, the leading cause of death worldwide.
