AFF Cup 2024 Group B Standings: Indonesia Drops to Second Place

Indonesia's national team lost 0-1 to Vietnam in the third matchday of the 2024 AFF Cup at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho, on Sunday (15/12/2024).

Vietnam's victory came through a goal by Nguyen Quang Hai in the 77th minute. Hai's powerful shot from inside the penalty box evaded Cahya Supriadi, giving the Golden Star Warriors the lead until the end of the second half.

On the same day, a match between the Philippines and Laos was also held at the Laos National Stadium, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Initially, Laos took the lead thanks to an own goal by Philippine player Michael Baldsimo in the 34th minute. In the second half, the Philippines equalized through a goal by Sandro Reyes in the 77th minute.

The result of the third match of the 2024 AFF Cup caused Indonesia to drop to second place in Group B with 4 points.

Meanwhile, Vietnam claimed the top spot in the standings with 6 points. Vietnam also has one more match played than Indonesia, increasing their chances of maintaining their position.

In the next matchday, the Indonesian national team has no match scheduled and will return to play against the Philippines at Manahan Stadium on Saturday (21/12/2024). This match is crucial for the Merah Putih team to secure a place in the AFF Cup 2024 semi-finals.
