Tuban Residents' Food Consumption Inadequacy Rate Rises 7.89% in 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Tuban Regency, East Java, was 7.89% in 2024.

This figure increased by 1.06% from the previous year's 6.83%, while in the last 5 years, it increased by 0.68%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Tuban Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that residents in Tuban Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy intake do not amount to 7.89% of the total population.

Compared to 37 other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Tuban Regency's PoU ranks 18th. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Surabaya City (2.37%), and the highest (last rank) is Situbondo Regency (17.35%).
