Only 7% of North Sulawesi's population attends higher education.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the population of North Sulawesi (Sulut) was 2.66 million in June 2021.

Of this number, only 188,350 people (7.09%) in North Sulawesi had attained tertiary education/university level. This includes 972 people (0.04%) who are doctoral graduates, 10,110 people (0.38%) with master's degrees, and 136,190 people (5.13%) with bachelor's degrees.

Furthermore, 30,420 people (1.15%) in North Sulawesi have completed a Diploma 3 (D3) education, and 10,650 people (0.4%) have completed a Diploma 1/2 (D1/D2) education.

The number of North Sulawesi residents who have completed Upper Secondary Education (SLTA) is 756,430 (28.48%). Additionally, 451,430 people (17%) in the province have completed Lower Secondary Education (SLTP).

The number of North Sulawesi residents who have graduated from Primary School (SD) is 500,300 (18.84%). There are 310,620 people (11.7%) who did not complete primary school. There are also 448,850 people (16.9%) who have not attended school.
