MoEF Detects 996 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in East Nusa Tenggara (Wednesday, October 8, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 996 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 103 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Wednesday (October 8, 2025) at 11:53 AM WIB. Of the 996 detected hotspots, 19 points had a high hotspot confidence level, 828 points were medium scale, and 149 points were low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale from 30 - 79, and high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots were in East Nusa Tenggara with 255 points. West Nusa Tenggara ranked second with the highest number of hotspots, with 240 points. Central Kalimantan was in third place with 94 hotspots.

A total of 79 hotspots were detected in Aceh, followed by East Java with 55 hotspots, and South Sulawesi and South Kalimantan each had 39 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature compared to its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
