Provinces with the Most Polling Stations in the Upcoming 2024 General Election

The General Election Commission (KPU) has compiled the number of polling stations (TPS) across all Indonesian provinces. Among these provinces, five have the highest number of TPS for the upcoming 2024 General Election.

According to CNN Indonesia, West Java ranks first with 140,457 TPS. East Java is second with 120,666 TPS, followed by Central Java in third place with 117,299 TPS.

North Sumatra and Banten are fourth and fifth, respectively, with 45,875 TPS and 33,324 TPS.

The large number of TPS corresponds to the number of permanent voter lists (DPT) determined by the KPU. These five provinces have over 8 million voters each.

Specifically, West Java has a total of 35,714,901 voters. East Java has 31,402,838 voters, and Central Java has 28,289,413 voters.

Significantly fewer voters are in North Sumatra (10,853,940) and Banten (8,842,646), placing them fourth and fifth.

"These are the five provinces with the most voters," said KPU Commissioner Betty Epsilon Idroos during the Open Plenary Session on DPT Recapitulation at the KPU office in Jakarta on Sunday (2/7/2023).

The total DPT for the 2024 General Election is 204,807,222 voters: 102,218,503 male and 102,588,719 female voters.

This DPT figure comes from the national voter recapitulation spread across 38 provinces, 514 regencies/cities, and 128 overseas representative offices.

The 2024 General Election will be held on February 14, 2024. Voters will receive five ballots at the TPS.

These ballots are for electing the presidential and vice-presidential candidates; members of the House of Representatives (DPR); members of the Provincial People's Representative Council (DPRD); members of the Regency/City People's Representative Council (DPRD); and members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD).
