Between October 7 and November 2, 2023, over 9,100 Palestinians were killed in the war between Israel and Hamas militants.

Amidst this situation, a group of independent experts at the United Nations (UN) continues to call for a ceasefire.
"We believe that the Palestinian people are at grave risk of genocide. We demand a humanitarian ceasefire to ensure aid reaches those most in need," said a representative of the UN independent experts, as reported by Reuters on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
On the other hand, Israel stated that they targeted attacks at Hamas militants, not civilians, and accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields.
"The Israeli representative to the UN in Geneva blamed Hamas for the deaths of civilians," as reported by Reuters on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
