List of Provinces with the Highest Number of Residents Required to Have e-ID Cards

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Indonesia's population was 272.23 million in June 2021. Of this number, 198.63 million (72.98%) were required to have an electronic Identity Card (e-KTP).

Individuals aged 17 years and older are required to have an identity card; those under 17 but married are also entitled to an e-KTP.

West Java province recorded the highest number of residents required to have an ID card, reaching 34.25 million (71.98%) of the total population in West Java.

The next provinces with the highest number of residents required to have an ID card are East Java with 31.47 million (76.77%), followed by Central Java with 27.95 million (75.08%), and North Sumatra with 10.77 million (70.92%).

Furthermore, Banten has 8.37 million residents (71%) required to have an ID card. This is followed by Jakarta with 8.25 million (73.39%), South Sulawesi with 6.61 million (71.94%), Lampung with 6.39 million (72.16%), and South Sumatra and Riau with 6.04 million (71.19%) and 4.45 million (68.87%) respectively.
