The Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Tanah Bumbu Increased by 0.97% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, reached 2.31% in 2023.

This figure is up 0.38% from the previous year's 1.93%, and up 0.97% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Tanah Bumbu Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes insufficient food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Tanah Bumbu Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy intake is less than 2.31% of the total population.
