The Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Gowa Increased by 2.4% in the Last 5 Years

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, was 8.42% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.08% from the previous year's 11.5%, while it has increased by 2.4% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Gowa Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Gowa Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 8.42% of the total population.
