Polling Institute conducted a survey in October 2023 to gauge public perception of law enforcement in Indonesia.

The survey results indicate that a majority, or 42%, of respondents rated the condition of law enforcement in Indonesia as poor. This comprises 30.3% who responded "poor" and 11.7% who responded "very poor."

"This is a critical observation for President Jokowi's administration regarding the state of law enforcement," said Polling Institute researcher Kennedy Muslim during a virtual conference on Friday, October 13, 2023.

Conversely, 25.8% of respondents assessed law enforcement in Indonesia as good, consisting of 23.8% who rated it "good" and 2% who rated it "very good."

The same survey also identified a series of legal violations that the Polling Institute believes should be prioritized by Indonesian law enforcement agencies.

Drug trafficking and abuse emerged as the top priority, with 31.4% of respondents citing it. This was followed by corruption (12%) and immoral acts (10.6%).

The survey involved 1,206 respondents aged 17 and above or who were married. The sample was selected using random digit dialing (RDD).

Data collection was conducted from October 1-3, 2023, using telephone interviews. The survey has a margin of error of 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
