Based on the forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours detected 1,594 hotspots across Indonesia. This number has increased by 241 hotspots compared to the previous period.

The data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Sunday (19/7/2026) at 11:34 WIB. Out of 1,594 detected hotspots: 81 have high confidence level, 1,464 have medium confidence, and 49 have low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is divided into 3 scale levels: Low (0 - 29), Medium (30 - 79), High (80 - 100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in the area.

The highest number of hotspots was recorded in West Kalimantan, with 287 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with 149 hotspots, followed by South Sumatra at third place with 130 hotspots.

116 hotspots were detected in South Kalimantan, 102 in Central Kalimantan, while Bangka Belitung Islands and East Java recorded 100 and 89 hotspots respectively.

A hotspot refers to a coordinate point where surface temperature is higher than its surrounding area; this does not directly equal the count of fire incidents.

However, concentrated clusters of high hotspot counts indicate active forest and land fires. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-scale forest fire monitoring.
