Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Sabang City Increased by 0.61% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Sabang City, Aceh reached 9.01% in 2023.

This figure increased by 0.61% from the previous year's 8.4%, while it increased by 3.73% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Sabang City is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Sabang City who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 9.01% of the total population.

Compared to 22 other districts/cities in Aceh Province, Sabang City's PoU ranks 12th. The area with the lowest PoU (highest ranking) is Nagan Raya Regency (3.43%), and the highest (lowest ranking) is North Aceh Regency (14.24%).
