The Israel-Hamas war in Palestine, which erupted on October 7, 2023, has resulted in numerous casualties, primarily among Palestinians.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), by the 52nd day of the war, November 27, 2023, the total Palestinian death toll reached 15,093. This includes 14,854 deaths in the Gaza Strip and 239 in the West Bank.
The total number of Palestinian casualties in this war is more than eleven times higher than the Israeli death toll.
Data compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicates that the total number of Israeli casualties is approximately 1,275.
Israel and Hamas agreed to a four-day temporary ceasefire, from Friday to Monday, November 24-27, 2023, conditional on the release of hostages.
According to OCHA, during this truce, Israeli forces released 150 Palestinian prisoners, and Hamas released 51 Israeli hostages.
However, according to *Al Jazeera*, killings of Palestinians continued during the ceasefire.
*"Israeli forces shot dead five Palestinians in Jenin (West Bank) on Saturday and Sunday, and killed three others in other areas of the West Bank,"* reported *Al Jazeera* on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
*"Israeli forces stormed Jenin (West Bank) from various directions, firing bullets and besieging the government hospital and the headquarters of the Red Crescent Society,"* it continued.
*Al Jazeera* stated that there are plans to extend the ceasefire until November 29, 2023.
However, the Israeli government previously confirmed that the war would continue.
*"After this short pause ends, military operations will continue for at least two months,"* said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as reported by *The Times of Israel* on Wednesday, November 23, 2023.
The Israeli Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, echoed this sentiment.
*"We are not ending the war. We will continue the war until we win, and continue attacks on Hamas territories,"* he stated.
