Detachment 88 Arrests 18 Terrorists Throughout October 2023, Most in West Nusa Tenggara

The Indonesian National Police's Counterterrorism Detachment 88 (Densus 88 Antiteror) reported arresting 18 terrorism suspects between October 2nd and 26th, 2023.

"The suspects come from various terrorist groups, some from Anshor Daulah and Jamaah Islamiyah," said the Head of Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Pol Ahmad Ramadhan, in his official statement on Thursday (26/10/2023).

The most arrests were in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with six suspects from the Anshor Daulah group.

The second highest number of arrests occurred in South Sumatra, where Densus 88 apprehended five suspects who were members of the Jamaah Islamiyah group.

Four more suspects, also members of Jamaah Islamiyah, were arrested in Lampung.

Densus 88 also arrested one suspect each in West Kalimantan, West Java, and West Sumatra.

According to Ramadhan, there is no significant terrorist threat at present. Nevertheless, Densus 88 will continue its preventative efforts.

"Basically, there is no increase in the threat of terrorist acts. Densus is trying its best to take preventative measures against the possibility of terrorist acts in the country," he said.
