Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Friday, September 19, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Friday (September 19, 2025) at 21:58 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 5 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to reach 1,000 meters above the peak (2,584 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the southwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 millimeters and a duration of 280 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia''s volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismic observations on September 19, 2025, from 12:00-18:00 WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 132 seconds.

Subsequently, 1 harmonic tremor with an amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 32 seconds, and 9 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 2.9-7.4 millimeters and durations of 87-186 seconds occurred.

PVMBG urged the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the center of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,157 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,462 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 504 times.
