According to population data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Aceh's population reached 5.52 million in June 2024.

North Aceh Regency is the most populous region in Aceh, with 627,540 inhabitants (11.38%) of the total population.

Next is Bireuen Regency with a population of 458,980 (8.32%), East Aceh Regency with 449,800 (8.15%), and Pidie Regency with 444,900 (8.07%).

Meanwhile, Sabang City is the regency/city with the smallest population, at only 43,530 (0.79%).

Administratively, Aceh is divided into 5 cities and 18 regencies, with 27 districts encompassing 852 villages.

Based on marital status, 43.27% of Aceh's population is married, while 50.53% are unmarried. The population with divorced and widowed statuses reached 1.37% and 4.83%, respectively.
