Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Cilacap Decreased by 0.78% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, reached 12.29% in 2023.

This figure is down 4.4% from the previous year's 16.69%, while over the last 5 years it has decreased by 0.78%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Cilacap Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where an individual regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Cilacap Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 12.29% of the total population.
