Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Bombana Decreased by 1.1% in the Last Year

Quoting data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Bombana Regency, Southeast Sulawesi reached 8.94% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 1.1% from the previous year's 10.04%, while in the last 5 years it decreased by 0.49%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Bombana Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Bombana Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs account for up to 8.94% of the total population.

Compared to the other 16 regencies/cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province, Bombana Regency's PoU ranks 8th. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Kolaka Regency (4.18%) and the highest (last rank) is Muna Regency (17.1%).
