1,251 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Thursday, August 14, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours shows that 1,251 hotspots have been detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 133 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Thursday (August 14, 2025) at 11:05 AM WIB. Of the 1,251 detected hotspots, 68 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 1,071 points are medium scale, and 112 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The highest number of detected hotspots is in East Nusa Tenggara with 627 points. West Nusa Tenggara ranks second with 286 hotspots. Central Sulawesi is in third place with 74 hotspots.

As many as 58 hotspots were detected in South Sulawesi, followed by East Java with 49 hotspots, and Southeast Sulawesi and Maluku each having 27 and 18 detected hotspots.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature compared to their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
