Ministry of Environment and Forestry: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reached 64 in the Last 24 Hours (Saturday, January 3, 2026)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed that 64 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 23 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (January 3, 2026) at 11:36 AM WIB. Of the 64 detected hotspots, 63 were medium scale and 1 was low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale from 30 - 79, and high scale from 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in Central Sulawesi, with 33 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with 20 hotspots. South Sulawesi was in third position with 4 hotspots.

A total of 2 hotspots were detected in East Nusa Tenggara, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with 2 hotspots, and Central Kalimantan and Central Java each having 1 hotspot detected.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature compared to their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
