Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Natuna Decreased by 2.46% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands, reached 13.48% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.46% from the previous year's 15.94%, while over the last 5 years, it increased by 4.93%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Natuna Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 13.48% of the total population in Natuna Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy needs.
