Ministry of Environment and Forestry Detects 695 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in East Nusa Tenggara (Wednesday, November 5, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed that 695 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 558 points compared to the previous period.

This data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imaging accessed on Wednesday (11/5/2025) at 11:53 AM WIB. Of the 695 detected hotspots, 11 points had a high confidence level, 637 points were medium scale, and 47 points were low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in East Nusa Tenggara with 126 points. Maluku ranked second with 95 hotspots. West Sumatra was in third place with 85 hotspots.

A total of 71 hotspots were detected in Southeast Sulawesi, followed by West Nusa Tenggara with 58 hotspots, and Central Sulawesi and North Maluku each having 56 and 52 detected hotspots, respectively.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and is not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
