Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 92 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Monday, March 13, 2023, shows the national average testing rate at 8.93 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting with the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Indragiri Hulu (336.83%), Balikpapan City (235.4%), Purwakarta (218.46%), Central Halmahera (174.56%), and Klungkung (115.38%).
Indragiri Hulu ranks first. With a population of 453,480, the weekly percentage of people tested is 336.83 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.07 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Balikpapan City. The population of this region is 649,420. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 235.4 percent. The positive rate in this region is 0.13 percent, down from the previous week's percentage.
Then, Purwakarta, with a population of 965,370, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 218.46 percent; Central Halmahera, with a population of 59,226, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 174.56 percent; and Klungkung recorded 115.38 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 170 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 160 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Indragiri Hulu, Balikpapan City, and Central Halmahera, with weekly testing percentages of 336.83 percent, 235.4 percent, and 174.56 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
