The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported that the number of confirmed monkeypox cases, also known as *Mpox*, in Indonesia has reached 59 as of November 28, 2023. However, 61% of these cases have recovered.
"The total is 59 (cases), with 36 recovered," said Siti Nadia Tarmizi, Head of the Public Communication and Service Bureau of Kemenkes, as reported by *Antara* on Tuesday (28/11/2023).
Nadia stated that all monkeypox cases in Indonesia have occurred in men. To date, she continued, the ministry has not found any confirmed cases in women.
Regarding the death of one *Mpox* patient at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Jakarta some time ago, Nadia stated that the death was likely caused by the patient's more serious underlying conditions.
On the other hand, Nadia continued, the condition of another patient who was in critical condition has now improved. "The severe case is continuously improving because they have received antiviral medication," she said.
Nadia added that the vaccination process is going well, with 498 people, the target recipients, having received their first dose and are now undergoing the second dose vaccination.
According to Nadia, the ministry is also purchasing 4,000 doses of the *Mpox* vaccine to anticipate an estimated increase in cases to over 3,000 this year.
"It will arrive in the second or third week of December, in line with our estimation of the number of *Mpox* cases," she said.
Nadia urged the public not to worry about monkeypox, as it does not have the rapid transmission capabilities of COVID-19. Provided, she continued, that Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors (PHBS) are consistently practiced by the community.
