Based on national Covid-19 data, 154 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Monday, September 12, 2022, the national average was 142.73 specimens per week.
The top five, in descending order, are Pasuruan, Magetan, Hulu Sungai Selatan, Banyuwangi, and Kudus, with weekly specimen counts of 945, 934, 928, 861, and 833, respectively.
Pasuruan ranks first, with 945 specimens tested per week. Its latest positive rate is 3.97 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Magetan is next. With a population of 637,110, it tested 934 specimens per week. Its positive rate is 3.78 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Following is Hulu Sungai Selatan, with a population of 238,560 and 928 specimens tested per week; Banyuwangi with 861 specimens tested per week; and Kudus, with a population of 893,350 and 833 specimens tested per week.
In anticipation of Omicron's impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 134 regencies/cities actively reported higher daily specimen counts than before. Meanwhile, 169 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen counts compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimens tested include Hulu Sungai Selatan, Tarakan City, and Tanjung Pinang City, with 928, 829, and 804 specimens tested, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
