Crude Palm Oil (CPO) prices on the Rotterdam spot market fell 4.51% to US$900 per metric ton on Friday, June 23, 2023, from the previous day's close. CPO prices had reached their highest level of US$1,065 per metric ton on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Compared to the beginning of the year, CPO prices on the spot market today are down 12.62% (year-to-date/YTD). Similarly, year-on-year (YOY), CPO prices have fallen 37.93% compared to the same period.
Meanwhile, domestically, the spot price of palm oil in Medan reached Rp 12,641 per kg at the close of trading on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Compared to the position on December 31, 2021, the CPO price on the Medan spot market as of May 30, 2022, had increased by Rp 5,988.55 per kg, or a 9.38% increase year-to-date (YTD) as of today.
In some parts of Indonesia, branded cooking oil prices remain high. The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) reported that cooking oil prices were still above Rp 20,000 per kg yesterday.
For example, in Lampung, cooking oil is sold at Rp 30,700 per kg. In North Maluku, it is sold at Rp 25,050 per kg; in South Sulawesi, Rp 24,300 per kg; in Yogyakarta, Rp 23,900 per kg; and in Bali, Rp 22,500 per kg.
