The average COVID-19 positivity rate in Jakarta, Indonesia, increased again from November 4-10, 2021, compared to the previous week. Based on data from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the average positivity rate during that period was 0.5%.
Meanwhile, the average positivity rate in Jakarta during the first week of November 2021 and the fourth week of October 2021 was 0.4% each. This means the average positivity rate in Jakarta increased slightly by 0.1% in the last week.
However, this week's increase in Jakarta's average positivity rate is lower compared to the periods of the first week of last month and two months prior. In the second week of September 2021, the average weekly positivity rate in Jakarta was 1.4%, and in the second week of October 2021, it was 0.7%.
On November 11, 2021, DKI Jakarta contributed the highest number of new cases nationally, with 107 cases. As a result, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the capital is now 868, or 9.1% of the total national active COVID-19 cases.
COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito stated that local governments need to anticipate an increase in COVID-19 cases. This is because DKI Jakarta is one of the provinces experiencing the highest trend of positive COVID-19 cases in the last week.
Therefore, the public is still urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
