The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 693,980 cases by Sunday, November 27, 2022. Japan recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 3.03 percent. GISAID recorded 280,490 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 0.15 percent compared to the previous day.
Malaysia follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, Omicron cases in the country grew by 2.9 percent. Daily Omicron case numbers increased by 0.56 percent compared to the previous day, totaling 22,600 cases.
Next is Australia, with 115,040 new Omicron cases (a 2.84% increase). New Omicron cases in Indonesia increased by 2.59 percent to 28,291 compared to the previous week, and new Omicron cases in Spain increased by 2.52 percent to 75,010 compared to the previous week.
As of today, Indonesia recorded 28,291 new Omicron cases, a 0.39 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
