By October 2017, the Indonesian Health Insurance Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) had 27,154 healthcare facilities (Faskes). This comprised 21,196 primary healthcare facilities (FKTP) and 5,958 advanced healthcare facilities (FKTL). This number is expected to increase as many hospitals have yet to collaborate with BPJS Kesehatan.
BPJS Kesehatan is projected to experience another deficit this year. This is due to a mismatch between participant contributions and healthcare claim burdens, potentially resulting in a deficit exceeding Rp 10 trillion by the end of 2017.

Meanwhile, the 2018 State Budget (RAPBN) does not allocate funds to cover the BPJS Kesehatan deficit through State Capital Participation, unlike in 2016 when Rp 6.8 trillion was allocated. There are ongoing discussions about covering the deficit using cigarette excise and taxes or other revenue streams.
