The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has designated Indonesia as a country with a low level of COVID-19 transmission (Level 1). This risk assessment is in line with the improvement in coronavirus transmission cases in the country.
The CDC report shows that 77 countries are at a very high level of COVID-19 transmission (Level 4). These countries include Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
78 countries are at a high level of COVID-19 transmission (Level 3). Furthermore, 20 countries are at a moderate level of COVID-19 transmission (Level 2).
Additionally, 29 countries are at a low level of COVID-19 transmission (Level 1). Meanwhile, 41 countries are at an unknown level of COVID-19 transmission.
The CDC recommends that U.S. citizens traveling or visiting Indonesia should be fully vaccinated (two doses). In addition, tourists must follow Indonesian recommendations and requirements, including wearing masks and maintaining a six-foot (two-meter) distance from others.
According to the CDC, fully vaccinated travelers have a low risk of contracting COVID-19. However, international travel can still increase the risk of contracting and transmitting COVID-19.
