Indonesian Provinces with the Highest Social Distancing Compliance, May-June Period

The COVID-19 Task Force recorded a 97.73% compliance rate with social distancing in West Sulawesi (Sulbar) during the period of May 31 - June 6, 2021. This percentage was the highest compared to other provinces in Indonesia during that period.

Besides Sulbar, Bali also ranked high in social distancing compliance with a score of 96.4%, placing it second. Following in third and fourth place were Central Kalimantan and West Sumatra, with values of 94.38% and 94.14% respectively. East Kalimantan ranked fifth with 92.51%.

Based on the average compliance rate over the past week, there are still 21 provinces in Indonesia with social distancing compliance rates below 85%. Bangka Belitung had the lowest rate at 33.5%, followed by West Papua (63.2%), Maluku (66.3%), and North Sulawesi (66.3%).

According to the COVID-19 Task Force report, the lowest average social distancing compliance was observed in crowded tourist locations, homes, restaurants/cafes, stations, and public sports facilities/RPTRA.

In addition to maintaining distance and avoiding crowds, the public must comply with other health protocols, such as wearing masks and washing hands with soap. These three steps can suppress the transmission of the corona virus in Indonesia.
