The number of inpatients at the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran Emergency Covid-19 Hospital (RSDC) in Jakarta continues to increase. Based on data from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Joint Regional Defense Command I, there were 2,148 patients hospitalized at the RSDC Wisma Atlet Kemayoran on June 1, 2021.
This number increased to 5,453 patients on June 15, 2021. This represents a 154% increase in the number of patients.
This caused the occupancy rate of the RSDC Wisma Atlet to reach 90.9% of its initial capacity of 5,994 beds. Therefore, the management of the RSDC Wisma Atlet opened Tower 8, which has a capacity of 1,979 beds, to accommodate coronavirus-infected patients.
In addition, the bed capacity at the RSDC Wisma Atlet was increased to three units per room. Previously, one room at the RSDC Wisma Atlet only contained two beds.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing the Nagrak Rusunawa (low-cost apartment) in Cilincing, Jakarta, as an isolation facility for coronavirus-infected patients. It is planned that 2,500 beds in the rusunawa will be available for isolation.
To prevent hospital occupancy rates from rising further, the spread of the coronavirus must be prevented as much as possible. This can be done by diligently adhering to the 3M health protocols: wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
