The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.64 million cases by Monday, November 14, 2022. The United States ranks first, with weekly Omicron cases growing by 0.93 percent. GISAID recorded 1.9 million Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 0.02 percent compared to the previous day.
Germany follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the country grew by 0.61 percent. The reported number of Omicron cases is 473,200, compared to 470,350 the previous week.
Rounding out the top five countries are Spain with 71,593 Omicron cases (up 1.24%), Italy with 62,678 Omicron cases (up 1.97%), and Switzerland with 46,786 Omicron cases (up 0.94%).
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 26,508, a 0.23 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges all parties to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
