Based on data from Monday, June 7, 2021, at 09:43 WIB, Indonesia had detected 1,856,038 cases of Covid-19. 98,455 cases, or 5.3%, were active cases requiring hospitalization or self-isolation. Indonesia's global ranking rose to 16th, up from 19th the previous week.
A seroprevalence study testing antibodies from December 2020 to January 2021 indicated that 15% of the Indonesian population had been exposed to Covid-19. The Indonesian government only detected 0.4% of the population infected with Covid-19 by the end of January. This was due to low contact tracing and a lack of laboratories capable of identifying the coronavirus, as cited by Reuters.
Meanwhile, the United States still holds the top position with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases globally. The disease has reached 34.2 million cases, with 5,475,679 cases, or 16%, classified as active. This proportion decreased from the previous week, which was 16.4%.
The government continues to urge the public to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and wash their hands with soap and running water. Everyone is also encouraged to reduce mobility and avoid crowds.
