With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 146 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, November 9, 2022, shows a national average of 0.42 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, Balikpapan, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta, with respective figures of 5.42, 5.26, 4.75, 3.66, and 3.56 tests per 1000 people per week.
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested here is recorded at 5.42 per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 25.84 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 5.26 per 1000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 22.52 percent, also up from the previous week's percentage.
Then, Balikpapan recorded 4.75 tests per 1000 people per week, East Jakarta recorded 3.66 tests per 1000 people per week, and West Jakarta recorded 3.56 tests per 1000 people per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 158 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 135 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.75, 2.56, and 2.27 tests per 1000 people per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
