To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 96 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Monday, February 6, 2023, shows the national average examination is 93.77 specimens per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of specimens examined per week are Semarang City (981 specimens), Samarinda City (929 specimens), Sleman (927 specimens), Kutai Kartanegara (912 specimens), and Mimika (801 specimens).
Semarang City ranks first, with 981 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 0.61 percent, lower than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Samarinda City, with a population of 873,460. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 929 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 0.13 percent, also lower than the previous week's ratio.
Sleman recorded 927 specimens examined per week; Kutai Kartanegara, with a population of 802,710, recorded 912 specimens per week; and Mimika recorded 801 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid data recapitulation, 155 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 15 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimen examinations compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Samarinda City (929 specimens), Kutai Kartanegara (912 specimens), and Mimika (801 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
