At that time, Palu's air quality was categorized as good, meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Mamuju was ranked second with an air quality index of 39. Rokan Hilir followed in third place with an air quality index of 40.

Although the air quality in these cities was among the cleanest in Indonesia, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
This means that on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 3:00 PM WIB, the cities with good air quality were Palu, Mamuju, Rokan Hilir, Banda Aceh, and Sanggau. The other 5 cities, namely Ambon, Jayapura, Balikpapan, Denpasar, and Yogyakarta, had moderate air quality.
