Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 137 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. As of Friday, December 9, 2022, the national average examination was recorded at 125.88 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Pasuruan, Jambi City, Jombang, Mimika, and Padang City, with weekly specimen numbers of 998, 997, 910, 862, and 858 specimens respectively.
Pasuruan ranks first, with 998 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.81 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Next is Jambi City, with a population of 605,850. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, 997 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 4.29 percent, also down from the previous week.
Specimen examinations in Jombang totaled 910 per week; in Mimika (population 221,810), 862 specimens per week; and in Padang City, 858 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 119 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported daily specimen examinations higher than before. Meanwhile, 174 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of specimen examinations include Jambi City (997 specimens), Mimika (862 specimens), and Padang City (858 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
