With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 155 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect examination percentages above the national average. Data from the week of November 6th, 2022, shows the national average examination rate at 14.05 percent. This suspect examination data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the number of people examined in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly suspect examination percentage, are Simalungun (92.72%), Mandailing Natal (86.43%), Tidore Islands City (81.54%), Tasikmalaya (81.13%), and Dompu (74.19%).
Simalungun is ranked first. With a population of 877,710, the weekly suspect examination percentage here is recorded at 92.72 percent. The latest positive rate is 7.86 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Mandailing Natal. The population in this region is recorded at 460,360. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly suspect examination percentage is 86.43 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.63 percent, or higher than the previous week's ratio.
Then, Tidore Islands City, with a population of 101,620, recorded a weekly suspect examination percentage of 81.54 percent; Tasikmalaya recorded 81.13 percent; and Dompu recorded 74.19 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 175 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily weekly suspect examination percentage than before. Meanwhile, 166 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly suspect examination percentage compared to the previous week's examination.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect examination percentage ratio include Simalungun, Mandailing Natal, and Tidore Islands City, with weekly suspect examination percentages of 92.72 percent, 86.43 percent, and 81.54 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
