Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 199 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, April 8, 2022, shows a national average of 241.32 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Majalengka, Brebes, Madiun, Kubu Raya, and Ngawi, with weekly test numbers of 978, 977, 960, 952, and 948 respectively.
Majalengka ranks first, with 978 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 2.45 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Brebes is next, with 977 tests per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 3.17 percent, also down from the previous week.
Madiun recorded 960 tests per week, Kubu Raya 952 tests per week, and Ngawi (population 841,600) 948 tests per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a national Covid data recapitulation, 320 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of weekly tests than the previous week. Meanwhile, 66 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of weekly tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of weekly tests include Kubu Raya, Tanjung Pinang City, and Tanah Bumbu, with 952, 943, and 937 tests per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
