Indonesia's COVID-19 cases are again a cause for concern. Citing data from *worldometers*, active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia reached 12,148 as of Friday, June 24, 2022.
Worldometer ranks Indonesia's active COVID-19 cases as the fifth highest in Southeast Asia. Vietnam holds the highest position with 1,069,587 active cases.
Singapore is second with 90,246 active COVID-19 cases, followed by Malaysia and Thailand with 27,318 and 22,455 active cases respectively.
The Philippines is below Indonesia with 5,523 active COVID-19 cases. Brunei Darussalam reported 4,412 active cases, and Myanmar 1,582.
Meanwhile, Timor Leste recorded only 16 active COVID-19 cases. Cambodia reported no active COVID-19 cases on Friday, June 24, 2022.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia increased by 1,907 yesterday, reaching a total of 6.07 million cases. 156,710 of these resulted in death, and 5.91 million individuals have recovered.
The Ministry of Health found that two new Omicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, are contributing to the resurgence of infections in Indonesia. Therefore, Indonesia needs to remain vigilant.
The public is urged to continue preventing the spread of the coronavirus by adhering to health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility.
