Average Length of Schooling in Probolinggo Still Below National Average

The average length of schooling (ALS) for residents aged 25 years and above in Probolinggo, East Java, was 6.43 years in 2025.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the ALS of the region's population is below the East Java Province average, which was 8.39 years in 2025.

Probolinggo's population's ALS increased by 0.12 years (1.9%) compared to the previous year, which was 6.31 years. Meanwhile, in the last five years, the ALS increased by 0.32 years (5.24%).

This ALS indicates that the average resident of Probolinggo only attended school up to the 6th grade of elementary school. However, this ALS is still below the national average ALS of 9.07 years in 2025.

Compared to 37 other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Probolinggo's ALS is in 35th position. Other regions in the province with the highest ALS are Madiun City (12.12 years), while the lowest ALS is Sampang Regency (5.19 years).
