North Maluku has the lowest full COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Indonesia. According to a report from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the coverage for the second dose in the province reached only 3.68% of the target by July 15, 2021.
Full vaccination coverage in Lampung and West Sumatra also has not yet reached 4% of the target. Specifically, the second dose vaccination coverage in Lampung is only 3.7% of the target, while in West Sumatra it is 3.89% of the target.
Conversely, Bali has the highest full vaccination coverage in Indonesia, at 23.34%. It is followed by Jakarta, which reached 22.86%.
Nationally, the government has administered the first dose of the vaccine to 39.9 million people, or 19.18% of the target. The second dose has only been given to 15.9 million people, or 7.62% of the target.
This relatively low COVID-19 vaccination rate is due to several obstacles, ranging from limited vaccine availability and uneven access to vaccine hesitancy among the population.
The government aims to achieve one million vaccine doses per day. Since the beginning of July 2021, the average number of first doses administered has only reached 692,500 people per day. Meanwhile, the second dose has only reached 156,500 people per day.
