Based on national Covid-19 data, 168 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Thursday, March 24, 2022, the national average was 190.7 specimens per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Indragiri Hulu, Binjai City, Lebak, Sumenep, and Pematangsiantar City, with 998, 993, 990, 962, and 926 specimens per week, respectively.
Indragiri Hulu ranks first. With a population of 448,630, it tested 998 specimens per week. The latest positive rate was 4.17 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Binjai City, with a population of 287,050. In its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, it tested 993 specimens per week. The positive rate was 1.91 percent, also down from the previous week.
Lebak recorded 990 specimens per week, Sumenep 962 specimens per week, and Pematangsiantar City (population 260,930) recorded 926 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 112 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily specimen testing than before. Meanwhile, 245 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen testing compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some areas with the highest number of specimens tested include Indragiri Hulu, Binjai City, and Pematangsiantar City, with 998, 993, and 926 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
