The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 1.38 million cases by Saturday, February 19, 2022. The United Kingdom ranks first, with a weekly growth of 17.31 percent in Omicron cases. GISAID recorded 508,610 Omicron cases in the UK. Daily cases in this region increased by 2.03 percent compared to the previous day.
Following the UK is the United States, with a weekly growth of 24.2 percent in Omicron cases. A total of 450,400 Omicron cases were reported in the US. Daily statistics show a 2.79 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 438,160 cases.
Next is Denmark with 84,085 Omicron cases (a 17.06% increase). Germany saw a 32.58 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 64,913 compared to the previous week, while France saw a 24.82 percent increase, reaching 36,703 cases compared to the previous week.
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 6,170, a 0.64 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its first detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has steadily increased.
