Indonesia's COVID-19 Cases Drop 5 Percent in a Week, Ranking Third Globally

Based on Worldometer data, the rate of coronavirus transmission in Indonesia is starting to decline. Indonesia ranks third globally with the highest weekly accumulation of cases.

Indonesia recorded 268,067 positive Covid-19 cases in one week (July 27 - August 2, 2021). This is a 5% decrease compared to the previous week, which reached 283,000 cases during the period of July 20-26, 2021.

The trend of Indonesian Covid-19 cases is starting to fall, coinciding with a decrease in Covid-19 testing in recent days. Indonesia recorded 22,404 new cases, while testing only reached 106,785 people on August 2, 2021.

In contrast, the government was able to reach 185,181 people in a single day on July 28, 2021, with a considerably larger number of new cases that day, namely 47,791. Since then, testing coverage has continued to shrink, followed by a decrease in cases.

Meanwhile, the highest number of additional Covid-19 cases is still held by the United States with a total of 569,098 cases in the last week. This is a 36% increase compared to the previous week, which recorded 417,290 cases.

The government continuously urges the public to participate in reducing the rate of coronavirus transmission. Everyone needs to wash their hands with soap and running water, wear double masks, and maintain physical distancing. The public is also encouraged to reduce mobility and avoid crowds.
