The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 3.24 million cases by Monday, November 21, 2022. Saudi Arabia ranks first, with a weekly increase in Omicron cases growing by 143.8 percent. GISAID recorded 668 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 138.57 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is Indonesia, which recorded a 4.72 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 0.65 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.
Furthermore, Omicron cases in Colombia increased by 2.59 percent to 10,132 cases compared to the previous week, Spain saw an increase of 73,178 Omicron cases (up 2.21%), and Israel recorded 105,720 new Omicron cases (up 2.07%).
As for Indonesia, up to yesterday's data, there were 27,758 Omicron cases recorded, a 0.65 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges all parties to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
