The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Central Jakarta City, South Jakarta City, Mimika, and Purwakarta, with respective figures of 3.99 people per 1000 population/week, 3.61 people per 1000 population/week, 3.03 people per 1000 population/week, 2.64 people per 1000 population/week, and 2.51 people per 1000 population/week, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 649,420, the number of people tested here is recorded at 3.99 per 1000 population/week. The latest positive rate is 0.19 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Central Jakarta City. The population in this area is recorded at 914,530. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 3.61 per 1000 population/week. The positive rate in this area is recorded at 1.12 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, South Jakarta City recorded 3.03 tests per 1000 population/week, Covid-19 testing in Mimika recorded 2.64 per 1000 population/week, and Purwakarta, with a population of 965,370, recorded 2.51 Covid-19 tests per 1000 population/week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 163 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 49 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan City, Mimika, and Badung, with respective numbers of people tested at 3.99, 2.64, and 2.5.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
