The Indonesian government had administered 50.6 million doses of the Covid-19 coronavirus vaccine by Friday, July 9, 2021. Of this number, 35.8 million people had received their first dose, while 14.9 million people had received their second dose.
In detail, 1,569,703 health workers, or 106.87% of the target, had received their first dose. Of this number, 1,426,387 health workers, or 97.11% of the target, had also received their second dose.
Public officials who had received their first dose reached 19,089,216 people, or 110.17% of the target. 8,694,561 of them, or 50.18% of the target, had also received their second dose.
Meanwhile, coronavirus vaccination for the elderly remains relatively low. The number of recipients is only 5,026,182 people, or 23.32% of the target for the first dose. The number of elderly people who have received their second dose is 2,999,809, or 13.92% of the target.
The government continues to strive to increase vaccination coverage among the population. President Joko Widodo aims to reach 2 million vaccinations per day in August 2021. After that, the number is targeted to increase further to 5 million people per day.
Although the vaccination program is underway, the public still needs to implement the 3M's: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. This is because the implementation of the 3M's is effective in preventing the spread of coronavirus within the community.
